    Re: Clintwood vs Gate City

Intimidation could be a big factor, and the Gate City fans could become a factor in the game as well. LOL I imagine some might turn it up a notch just for ol Burrhead.

Haysi definitely intimidated Clintwood this year. It was almost funny to watch, but credit goes to a young team that didn't give up.

For Clintwood rolling over GC, it won't happen. Anyone who say they will, doesn't really believe it. It should be a good game. Unless, the intimidation factor comes in, then the rolling will come into play. It won't be GC getting rolled though.

    Re: Clintwood vs Gate City

I was poking a bit of fun but a team that hasn't beaten GC getting a win over them would make their fans freak out.

I met Burrhead last year at PV at Clintwood game when Clintwood beat us. He's pretty cool. He wasn't jumping up and down and carrying on. Needless to say he was glad that CW won.

Nothing against the Blue Devils but it would be great for Clintwood if they won. I'm not picking a definite winner. I honestly don't know who will win. I gained respect for GC last year. Clintwood? I've never really minded them that much. It would give PV a lot of power points if CW and PV both beat GC.

The winner will be by 1 touchdown or less.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see some of the Raider staff scouting this game.

Depends on the confidence level Norton has at this point in the season. I'm not sure if they consider either Gate City or Clintwood as potential upsets.

Since a couple of teams had open schedules this past week, I thought maybe some of the coaching staff may have been scouting Norton but didn't see any.

    Re: Clintwood vs Gate City

    As posted earlier

Keys for Gate City to win:
    1. Field position. They must get the deep kickoffs from Byrd and long punts from Jones. Kick it deep boys, kick it deep. Then the defense must hold.

    2. The defense must hold teams on 3rd and 4th downs. Cut out the silly mistakes and penalties that give teams automatic first downs. Last week on Kelly's only scoring drive they were at 4th and long, penalty 5 yards roughing the punter, 4th and 4, penalty off sides. First down and the drive resulted in their only score. This type of thing must stop. Play hard but smart.

    3. Receivers must catch the ball. Anderson had 4 of his passes droped last week, two of which were touchdowns. Catch the ball. Estepp has the best hands on the team and they didn't even throw him the ball. Move the kid to tightend and use this big target. He would be a better tightend than fullback. I hear several people talking about this, Sunday Quarterbacks, for what it's worth.

    4. The offensive line must continue to give Anderson time. Last week they did and excellent job of this. Keep it up. You must take advantage of field position opportunities created by special teams and defense.

    5. Coaches must be creative on play calling and the defensive coordinator must be able to adjust during the game. aka Virginia High - no adjustment = loss. Quicker decisions MUST be made. Better clock management is also needed. The team can't afford any more situations like right before the half against Kelly.

    6. Anderson must continue to play within his abilities. Focus on the task at hand, mainly get the ball to Parks. Anderson made some great passes last week and his stats would be better if his receivers would help him out. I look for good things from this young man as he matures in his knowledge of the offensive scheme.

    7. Play hard on every down.

I think Parks has close to 750 yards, give or take a few yards.

    Re: Clintwood vs Gate City

And most of his yards I might add are do to him and him alone. Most of our offensive line hasn't blocked a lick all year and whats sad is one of out biggest lineman is the son of the offensive line coach. They need to go back to hitting the sled until they can consistantly fire off the ball and MAINTAIN their block longer than a second. I played under Coach Fry and thats all we did. Although this is another generation, theres no substitute for hard work and practise makes permanent......
